History

AWC started out as an experimental outreach to women vulnerable to abortion. In 1992, research, training, and long-term plans were developed, supported mainly by members of the Dorchester Christian Fellowship Church in Boston.

In 1993, AWC opened an office on Dorchester Ave. and placed a $28,000 ad in the Boston Yellow Pages, hired a staff and began to help the many young women who called.

In 1995, AWC opened a second center in Needham, MA at the invitation and help of the Needham Knights of Columbus and area parishes and churches.

In January 1997, AWC opened a third center in Revere, MA.

In 1998, our original office in Dorchester was long outgrown and so a new medical clinic was built one block away.

In 1999 a new office was opened on Cape Cod. Our Dorchester office became licensed as a Medical Clinic in 1999 and our Revere office in 2001.

We closed our Needham office in 1999 in anticipation of opening our new center along the MBTA Green Line in Brookline (October 2001). Our fifth center in Beverly opened January 2002.

In 2005 we opened up our sixth center in Fall River.

We expect to talk to over 2,000 women this year concerned about pregnancy. All our funding comes from private donations and Churches. We rely on a small staff and a host of volunteers in doing this work.

Your donation to A Woman's Concern through Network for Good is safe and secure. We receive 100% of the funds you donate.
